There are good notes and bad notes

There is a difference between notes that are helpful to you when you revisit them and notes that are not so helpful (high- or low- quality entry to our knowledge base).

Zettelkasten

Other terms for the same method

  1. card file

A Zettelkasten (German for “slip box”) consists of small items of information that may be linked to each other through subject headings or other metadata such as numbers and tags. It is often used as a system of note-taking and personal knowledge management for research, study, and writing.

In the 1990s, such software inspired the invention of wikis.
