Addictions
Society beats down the average man.
We live in the matrix where society actively tries to numb you. They actively try to say, hey, when you wake up at 4 in the morning and you have to go lay rebar in the gym and you don’t make enough money even though you work an 8 hour job with overtime, you don’t make enough money to raise a family, guess what, now your wife also has to work a job. Don’t worry, the school system will raise the kids. And while they do that, they beat you into the dirt and they say, hey, you can try this new vodka, whiskey, its fucking great. It goes down smooth. And it is so difficult in life not to want to reach towards that drink. It could be a social media addiction, it could be a sex addiction. It is so difficult in life for the average man to go work his ass off, come home and still not have enough. All he has to do is take a drag, take a hit, take a drink, and for that split moment the worries go away. Its such a fucking struggle. - Sean Strickland
Addictions
Addiction is a progressive narrowing of the things that bring you pleasure. So, often times, the person only has excitement and can achieve dopamine release to the same extent doing that and not other behaviors. And they start losing interest in other things in life. Eventually, they will start dopamine released from that activity as well. And then, they will drop into a pretty serious depression. That can get serious.
End your addictions
If you have addictions, and want to get out of them, remember these four steps to conquer them.
Step one: Understand your triggers
It all starts with bad moments like, let down, disappointment, loss, shame, rejection. You have to understand your triggers.
Step two: Addictions talk to you
If triggers happen and you feel bad, and addictions entice you - Come to me, I'll give you relief, I'll give you comfort. It is a lie. Addiction is like a dirty whore that pretends to be a girlfriend.
Step three: You do not need a whore nor a girlfriend. You need instant Rituals.
In the weak moments, when you are triggered, you need instant rituals. They make you strong. Try 25 push-ups on your fists or 5 minutes of silence counting your breaths to 100. It will work out. You will feel more yourself.
Step four: I only need myself
After that, repeat the words: I don't need you. I only need myself.
