Asking questions

A good question : A good question is never answered. It is not a bolt to be tightened into place but a seed to be planted and to bear more seed toward the hope of greening the landscape of the idea - John Ciardi

చెడును ప్రశ్నించడం నేర్చుకో. మంచిని అభినందించటం నేర్చుకో. అది నీలో మంచిని పెంచుతుంది. చెడును తొలగిస్తుంది.

“Certainty is the mother of fools.” - Patrick Jane, The Mentalist

We need to question and challege what we learn. “The best students are those who never quite believe their professors.” But at the same time, “One ought not to reject the data merely because one does not like what the data imples”.

Be proactive and ask questions. Don’t suffer in silence for too long.

Why you shouldn’t hesitate to ask stupid questions

by Jordan Peterson.

  1. When you start out doing something, you may not necessarily know a whole lot about it.
  2. It is easy for people who think they know a lot about that topic to pull the wool over your eyes.
  3. You need to have the ability to ask stupid questions.
  4. The thing about stupid questions is, you only have to ask the stupid question once - if you are alert.
  5. If you are in a crowd and you ask a stupid question, 80% of the people in the crowd have the same question. They are just too cowardly to ask.
  6. But if you ask the stupid question and someone actually tells you the answer, you never have to ask that question again.
  7. You are no longer stupid.
  8. If you ask enough stupid questions because you are honest, you are not stupid anymore.
