Good Habits

“Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.” ― Bill Gates

Don’t Follow Goals, Follow Habits. Values don’t matter. What matters are habits.

A habit (or wont, as a humorous and formal term) is a routine of behavior that is repeated regularly and tends to occur subconsciously. (Source Wikipedia)

Do new/difficult things in small steps. Small steps that you definitely know you can be successful with. This way you will be a bit more kind and patient with yourself. Doing this will also give you a bigger chance to make it stick. Habits take time to change especially when you have been doing it your entire life. You can pick things that feels the easiest for you to start changing and the others will follow. This is just one step, but I know from experience it is better to focus on one change at the time. People often can’t handle too many changes at the same time and end up to their usual being again. Small wins are wins and on the way to becoming more of who you want to be.

Being able to form and maintain good habits is almost a super power.

The key to fulfilling all the promises we make to ourselves is forming and then maintaining habits. e.g. read more, eat better, exercise more.
